The entity responsible for processing your personal data on this site is Handpan Japan LLC, represented by Jimmy Braun.

Although the publisher is established in Japan, this site processes data of European Union residents. The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — Regulation EU 2016/679) therefore applies to this processing.

02 · What we collect

What data we collect.

This site collects only the data strictly necessary for its operation and for the legitimate interests of its publisher.

When you contact us by email

If you write to hello@jimmybraun.org, we collect: your email address, your name (if you provide it), the content of your message, and any attachments. We use this information solely to reply to you.

When you browse the site

The site uses Google Analytics to measure audience and improve content. Google Analytics may collect: anonymised IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, time spent, geographic location at country/region level, traffic source. Cookies may also be set by WordPress and by Jetpack for site security and performance. See our cookie policy for full details.

When you comment on the blog

If you post a comment, the form collects: your name, your email (not published), your website (optional), your comment, your IP address. Comments may be filtered by Akismet, an anti-spam service, to which the IP address and email may be transmitted for verification.

What we do not collect

We do not collect bank or payment data — purchases of books are made directly on Amazon, where their own privacy policy applies. We do not collect health, religious, ethnic, political or sexual orientation data. We do not buy or rent personal data from third parties.

03 · Why we collect

Why we collect it.

Your data is processed for the following purposes, on the legal bases set out below:

Communicate with you (legitimate interest)

To answer your questions, project inquiries, press requests, and to maintain professional correspondence. Data: email, name, content of messages.

Improve the site (consent)

To understand how visitors use the site and improve its content, structure and performance. Data: anonymised analytics data via Google Analytics, conditional on your cookie consent.

Comply with legal obligations

To respond to administrative or judicial requests authorised by law. Data: any data already collected, in the strict context of the request.

Protect the site against abuse (legitimate interest)

To filter spam (Akismet), prevent attacks (Jetpack security) and protect the site's integrity.

04 · Retention

How long we keep it.

Your data is kept only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Email correspondence · kept for as long as the professional relationship is active, then archived for 3 years for traceability, then deleted.

Comments on the blog · kept as long as the article remains online, unless deletion is requested.

Google Analytics data · automatically deleted after 14 months (default Google setting).

Server log files · kept for 12 months maximum, then automatically purged.

Backup copies · may contain personal data for an additional 30 days, the time needed to rotate the backups.

05 · Recipients

Who has access.

Your data is processed by Jimmy Braun, sole authorised user. It may also be processed by the following technical service providers, in their respective scope:

OVH · web hosting (servers in France, EU)
Google (Google Analytics) · audience measurement
Automattic (Jetpack, Akismet) · security, performance, anti-spam
WP-Optimize, Autoptimize, WP-Rocket · technical site optimisation

None of these providers is authorised to use your data for purposes other than the technical service provided. No data is sold or rented to commercial third parties.

06 · Your rights

Your rights under the GDPR.

In accordance with articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

Right of access

Obtain confirmation of whether we hold data about you, and access to that data.

Right to rectification

Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected without undue delay.

Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")

Request deletion of your data in the cases provided by law.

Right to restrict processing

Limit the use of your data while a dispute or rectification is pending.

Right to data portability

Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format, and transmit it to another controller.

Right to object

Object to processing of your data based on legitimate interest, including profiling.

Right to withdraw consent

Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (e.g. analytics cookies).

Right to lodge a complaint

File a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL) if you consider that your rights are not respected: www.cnil.fr.

07 · Exercise

How to exercise your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact the publisher directly by email at hello@jimmybraun.org, with the subject line « Privacy rights request », briefly indicating the right(s) you wish to exercise.

Your request will be processed within one month of receipt, in accordance with article 12 of the GDPR. Where necessary to verify your identity, you may be asked to provide proof.

This request is free of charge. In case of a manifestly unfounded or excessive request (in particular by its repetitive nature), the publisher reserves the right to refuse it or charge a reasonable fee for processing.
